Why is there a minimum balance required for some accounts? Do I have to deposit it the day I open the account?
Home > FAQ > Before you order > Basics > Minimum balance

In Switzerland there is no such thing as a minimum opening balance. You can perfectly well open an account with a balance of zero and start your deposits weeks or months afterwards.

Does this mean that no minimum apply on your account? Not quite. Most banks do have a minimum balance policy. This means that the bank expects you to maintain a minimum balance on your account as soon as your start your deposits. But nobody expects you to start your deposits the day your open your account.
